Answer #1:

Work on strengthening your legs as you use them to push off the mound. Also, try lifting weights every other night. Eventually you will notice a difference and your speed and confidence will go up.

Answer #2:

well to answer your question your going to want to lift weights, say squats, leg press, and run EVERYDAY 2miles each day, your legs are the most important part when pitching, than upper body pull-ups, bench press... the secondary roll of a pitcher is to basically back up the other players for ex. runner on first (hes kinda fast) and a ball hit to the gap in right-center. once that ball is hit you(the pitcher) will sprint behind the third baseman to back up a potential bad throw. another one is, and this is KEY to a pitcher, whenever there is a ball hit to the right side of the infield, and no one is on base, you go and run up the side of the line and cover.. for ex. ball hit in the gap between first and second, and the first baseman gets the ball. you should already be running towards the bag with a good target for him to hit u with..

now if i were you i wouldnt try out for pitcher, especially in high school, since you've never pitched before. pitching in high school is a completely different thing, than pitching in your neighborhood. just perfect whatever position your doing right now, and work on your hitting. hit off a tee every other day if not everyday, say 150-250 baseballs a day... nut remember this... PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.. the whole practice makes perfect is a lie, cause u could be practicing the wrong way
